The present volume is based on the contributions of the various speakers to the three sections of the conference "Democracy, security and economic development in Southeast Europe: Inner stability as the key for prosperity", "The options for regional co-oporation", "Consepts for the future of the Southeast Europe". It presents the problems of the region from many different local and regional perspectives. At the same time, it provides an overview of the prevailing concepts and ideas concerning the future development of Southeast Europe, from the point of view of the Balkan countries, on one hand, the EU, the USA, the international community and other international actors, on the other.
