Kefallonia: The Castle of Saint George

The report that follows is not a scientific study but an account of various scientific works and original sources referring to the historical fortunes, the geographical setting, and the many various conquests and the cultural influences the Castle of St. George has survived. Many important facts were added from hand written documents provided by the laywer, researcher and author, Mr. G. Vlachos, a collection of reports by the Castle's residents during the 19th century. From many visits and surveys of existing photographs of the castle during different periods, as well as information from Mr. O. Migardo and Mr. D. Komita, custodian of the Castle for many years, newer observations have come to light, which are contained in this narrative.
