Archaeomagnetism and palaeomagnetism are fascinating specialized studies because both are applicate to or interact with such a wide range of problems in geophysics, geology, palaeoclimatology and archaelogy. Once the geomagnetic field's strength and direction is measured from an ancient pottery or lake sediment sample, use can be made of these measurments, amognst others, for the reconstruction of the field's varations -the secular varation- in the past. [...] A brief introduction to the geomagnetic field's genesisand mechanisms is presented, as well as measuring techniques for archaeo (palaeo) intesities.
