The present volume contains the papers delivered at the workshop on "Teacher training and related materials in the context of intercultural education", organized in Delphi by the Department of Preschool Education at the University of Athens in April 1995. The workshop aimed at bringing together social scientists, educators, and administrators who are involved in initial and/or in-servise teacher education in the domain of the intercultural in their own specifics without disregarding the wider European situation, to shed light onto micro-level practices without overlooking the macro-level within which such practices are located. Our aim was to bring together various national experiences and to attempt, through our discussions, to place them in a cohesive framework rather than present them as a series of disparate factual data. We are not sure whether we have realized this ambition in this volume since the discussion that followed the presentation of papers has not been included. [...] (from the preface of the book)
