Education and Human Rights

The present volume contains the summaries of the contributions published in the recent book of the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) under the title «Education and Human Rights» (eds. A. Yotopoulos-Marangopoulos and S.-H. Aktypis, Andy's Publishers, Athens, 2015, 258 p. in Greek). The volume is dedicated by the MFHR to the celebration of the United Nations (UN) 70th Anniversary. It comprises in its original version in Greek the papers presented on the occasion of two conferences organized by the MFHR. The first conference that took place in December 2013 dealt with the different applicable methods of teaching Human Rights depending on the grade and type of educational institutions. The second conference that was held in March 2014 addressed the issue of school violence and its detrimental consequences that in some cases may lead to suicide or mass shootings at a post-school age against students and teachers. Moreover, the original book includes the MFHR recommendations on the issue of education in the region of Thrace, as well as a contribution by Emerita Professor Mrs. Elly Yotopoulou-Sicilianou on the importance and the role of student communities in this critical period for education in Greece.
